This ranking benefit is something that players in the other VPO countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland) are not getting. “Of course, we would have liked this opportunity to be available for all players of Viaplay Padel Open. However, we did not receive the same unanimous response from players in the other VPO countries as we did from Danish players; that they really want the tournament to include ranking points”, explains Salic. Indeed, in early 2020, VPO did a market study where hundreds of players and center owners were asked for their input on the tournament. The results of this study formed the tournament’s set-up and rules. “I think this request from the Danish players speaks volumes of DPF’s work. They have truly set their mark in Nordic padel culture and succeeded in making tournaments a habit”.
So in conclusion, we have an exciting summer and fall ahead of us in Padel Denmark! Both Viaplay and DPF look forward to a lot of great games. “We are super excited to see who will represent Denmark in the International finals later this year and to see how the Danish players will perform against strong players across Scandinavia”, says Bentler.
